McKeesport, PA – Penney Eye Care, located in McKeesport, is working to brighten the holiday season by donating proceeds from each eye exam and eyeglass purchase made in December to a local family in need.
“We are very grateful for the support of our local community since Penney Eye Care took over in 2016. So now we want to start giving back to the community and thought there’s no better time than around the holidays,” said Dr. Rachel Penney, O.D. Penney took over the practice, formerly known as 20/20 Eye Care, in 2016 after the retirement of Dr. James Letham.
For the entire month of December, Penney Eye Care will donate $5 per eye exam and $10 per pair of glasses sold to a family in need. Penney said they asked the McKeesport Police Department to help them find a family who could benefit from this fundraiser to ensure the funds go to where they are needed the most.
Penney said they donate to the local Lion’s Club and local sporting teams in the area, but this is their first time holding a fundraiser like this. “We are hoping to make this an annual fundraiser for a local family in need and appreciate the community help and support,” said Penney.
Penney is encouraging patients who are due for an eye exam or new glasses to schedule their exam for the month of December and help a family in need this holiday season. There will also be a donation box available for those who want to help out but are not due for new glasses or an eye exam. Donations can be dropped off at the Penney Eye Care office located at 722 Long Run Road in McKeesport.
