Services

Dr. Penney and her staff strive to ensure that each patient receives a comprehensive, thorough eye exam during each visit.

Comprehensive Eye Exams

Comprehensive Eye Exams

Our practice prides itself on providing a very comprehensive, thorough eye exam at each visit to patients of all ages. We realize each patient has their own lifestyle, professionally and personally, with different visual demands. We gear each exam toward the patient’s needs and also pay close attention to the ocular health of each patient, as the eyes can be indicators of systemic conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and many more conditions. Dr. Penney is licensed to diagnose and treat many different ocular diseases, including dry eye syndrome, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration and much more.

Please note: If you do not have vision insurance, but have medical insurance (such as Medicare, Blue Cross, etc.) and you have a medical diagnosis that is eye related (like cataracts, for example), the medical insurance can be billed for the exam. That means that all patients on Medicare can be seen for an eye exam under their Medicare insurance. Please call the office with any questions.

Children’s Eye Exams

Children’s Eye Exams

Dr. Penney’s practice welcomes patients of all ages, and we are able to check children as young as six months of age in our office. Any children with ocular conditions warranting medical treatment by pediatric ophthalmologists will be referred to the best in the area, and any conditions that are detected or treated can be co-managed as needed with our practice. It is strongly recommended that at minimum, all children be seen in our office by the age of three, and then again before entering kindergarten. Many refractive disorders of the eyes can go undetected in young children, so it is very important to have their eyes routinely checked, or it can affect the normal vision development process and cause future academic struggles.

Contact Lens Services:

Contact Lens Services

We can fit a wide selection of contact lenses in our office, including colored contact lenses, contacts for astigmatism and multifocal contact lenses. Dr. Penney is especially comfortable with helping patients who now need help with their near vision, and often accomplishes this with contact lenses. For those patients struggling with their near vision in contact lenses, Dr. Penney will determine what is best for you. Your options include monovision or multifocal contact lenses.

Our office also offers specialty contact lens fittings for patients with conditions such as keratoconus, or who are suffering from severe ocular surface disease. The newest technology for these patients involves scleral contact lenses, which are available through Dr. Penney’s practice. Scleral lenses are a very comfortable option versus rigid gas permeable lenses, and offer superior vision in the majority of cases. We are very excited to offer this specialty contact lens service to patients who have not been correctable to 20/20 vision in the past due to limited options in contact lenses. We also work with patients who currently wear rigid gas permeable lenses, or who are good candidates for this type of contact lens.
